Ingredients:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

2 lbs (1 kg) beef chuck or brisket<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 large onion, chopped<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 bell pepper (red or yellow), chopped<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3 garlic cloves, minced<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 can (14 oz \/ 400 g) crushed tomatoes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 tablespoons capers<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 bay leaves<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 teaspoon ground cumin<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 teaspoon paprika (optional)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Salt and black pepper to taste<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 tablespoons olive oil<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 cup beef broth or water<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fresh lemon or lime slices for garnish (optional)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instructions:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  1. Sear the Beef:<\/strong>
    Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sear the beef on all sides until browned. Remove and set aside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Saut\u00e9 the Vegetables:<\/strong>
    In the same pot, add onions, bell pepper, and garlic. Saut\u00e9 for about 5 minutes until soft and fragrant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Build the Sauce:<\/strong>
    Add the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, bay leaves, cumin, paprika, capers, salt, and pepper. Stir well.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Simmer the Beef:<\/strong>
    Return the beef to the pot. Cover and simmer over low heat for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the meat is very tender and easy to shred.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Shred the Beef:<\/strong>
    Remove the beef, shred it using two forks, then return it to the sauce. Simmer uncovered for another 10\u201315 minutes to absorb the flavors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Garnish and Serve:<\/strong>
    Sprinkle with fresh cilantro and serve hot with white rice, black beans, or fried plantains. Add lemon or lime slices for a citrusy touch.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
