Ingredients (Serves 4–6)
- 3 medium potatoes, peeled and grated (about 4–5 cups)
- 1/4 cup olive oil (or melted butter for a richer flavor)
- 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional, for extra flavor)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite blend)
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Squeeze out excess moisture from the grated potatoes using a clean towel or cheesecloth. This helps achieve a crispy texture.
- In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes with olive oil (or melted butter), salt, pepper, and garlic powder if using.
- Grease a baking dish or ovenproof skillet with a bit of oil, then press the potato mixture evenly into the bottom to form a crust.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the bottom is golden and crisp.
- Remove from the oven, sprinkle the cheese evenly on top, and return to the oven for another 5–10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and slightly golden.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve hot.
