Ingredients:
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil or melted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup (240ml) milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch (20 cm) round cake pan.
- Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, oil (or butter), eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
- Sift dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Combine: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until there are no lumps. Do not overmix.
- Pour into the pan: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and gently tap to remove any air bubbles.
- Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool: Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
