Wonderful stuffed grape leaves recipe

★Ingredients

  • Fresh grape leaves (about 30)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh herbs (parsley, dill, mint)
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Optional: Chopped nuts or raisins

★Method

  • Prepare the Grape Leaves*
  • For jarred leaves: Rinse under cold water.
  • For fresh leaves: Blanch in boiling water, then drain.
  • Make the Filling*
  • Combine rice, onions, garlic, herbs, olive oil, and lemon juice.
  • Season with salt and pepper. Add nuts or raisins if desired.
  • Assemble the Grape Leaves*
  • Lay a grape leaf shiny side down, stem towards you. Cut off the stem.
  • Place filling near the stem end, fold in sides, and roll tightly.
  • Repeat with remaining leaves and filling.
  • Cook the Stuffed Grape Leaves*
  • Arrange in a pot in tight layers.
  • Add water to cover, lemon juice, and a drizzle of olive oil.
  • Place a plate on top to keep submerged. Simmer for 40-50 minutes until tender.
