Fermented pineapple peel drink

★Ingredients

1 cup brown sugar (adjust to taste)

Pineapple peel (from 1-2 pineapples)

Optional spices: 1-2 sticks cinnamon or a few whole cloves

4-6 cups water (enough to cover the peels)

★Preparation

  • Wash the Pineapple Peel:

Thoroughly wash the pineapple peels under running water to remove any dirt or pesticides.

  • Combine Ingredients:

In a large bowl or container, combine the washed pineapple peels, brown sugar, and any optional spices you’re using.

  • Add Water:

Pour enough water into the bowl to completely cover the pineapple peels. Stir well to dissolve the brown sugar.

  • Ferment:

Cover the bowl with a clean cloth and secure it with a rubber band. This allows air to circulate while keeping out insects and dust.

Place the bowl in a warm area (around 70-80°F or 21-27°C) and let it ferment for 2-3 days. Stir the mixture daily to ensure even fermentation.

  • Strain the Mixture:

After 2-3 days, strain the liquid through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean container, discarding the solid peels and spices.

  • Refrigerate and Enjoy:

Store the strained liquid in the refrigerator. Serve chilled as a refreshing drink and enjoy the benefits for your bones and joints!

Notes:

Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar according to your preference.

Feel free to experiment with other spices like ginger or nutmeg for added flavor.

The drink can be enjoyed on its own or mixed with other beverages for a unique twist.
