Christmas Crackers: A Delicious Recipe for the Holiday Season

★Ingredients

  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 ½ cups (315g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup (60g) mini chocolate chips or crushed candy canes (optional, for added holiday flavor)
  • ½ teaspoon salt

★Instructions

Preheat Oven* Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cream Butter and Sugar* In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.

Add Egg and Vanilla* Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients* In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Mix Dry Ingredients with Wet Ingredients* Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. If desired, fold in mini chocolate chips or crushed candy canes for extra flavor.

Roll and Cut* On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thick. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters or into rectangles for classic cracker shapes.

Bake* Place the cut-out cookies onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

Cool and Enjoy* Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, you can optionally decorate them with icing or sprinkles for a festive touch.
